Our verdict
If you want one countertop system whose paperwork you never have to squint at, this is it. AquaTru's IAPMO certification across five standards is the reason it anchors our rankings - and the reason it costs more than rivals that ask you to take their word for it.
Specifications & certification
| Type | Countertop reverse osmosis |
| How it works | 4-stage filtration in 3 cartridges: sediment/carbon pre-filter, reverse-osmosis membrane, and a coconut-shell VOC carbon finishing filter. Fill the tap tank; purified water collects in a removable 0.75-gallon carafe. No plumbing, no drain line. |
| Certification status | Tested and certified by IAPMO to NSF/ANSI Standards 42, 53, 58, 401 and P473 (per AquaTru's Performance Data Sheet) - the deepest certification paperwork of any countertop RO system we track. |
| Filter life | Pre/Carbon 6 months (600 gal) - RO membrane 2 years (1,200 gal) - VOC Carbon 1 year (600 gal) |
| Replacement filters | Pre/Carbon $29.95 - VOC Carbon $39.95 - RO membrane sold in bundles |
| Running cost | About $130/yr on the 2-year bundle ($259.65) |
| Flow / pace | Batch system - fills its carafe; data sheet daily production 54 GPD |
| Size | 12 in W x 14 in D x 14 in H, about 17 lb |
| Power & plumbing | Plug-in (120V). No plumbing or drain connection. |
| Warranty | 1-year limited warranty; 30-day money-back guarantee |

- PFOA + PFOS 97.5% minimum reduction (P473)
