Our verdict
The only whole-house system here with a genuine NSF/ANSI 53 certification for PFAS - the claim class everyone else in whole-house merely advertises. Premium-priced and tank-replacement-based, but its paperwork is in a class of one.
Specifications & certification
| Type | Whole-house tank system with PFAS media |
| How it works | A non-backwashing tank with three media layers - chlorine/chloramine, PFAS, and VOC/pharmaceutical - treating every tap in the house. No drain line; a 120V outlet powers its performance indicator. |
| Certification status | Aquasana states the HealthShield is 'WQA tested and certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 53 to remove 99.9% of PFAS to below 4 parts per trillion' (PFOA, PFOS, PFNA, PFHxS, PFHpA) and certified to Standard 53 for 99.8% of VOCs. Its chlorine figure, by contrast, is internally tested only. |
| Capacity & flow | 165,000 gallons (about 2 years); 5.7 GPM |
| Maintenance | Replace the whole tank at end of capacity (about $1,749 per third-party reporting) |
| Installation | Professional installation recommended |
| Warranty | See Aquasana for current terms |
